K-Kids
K-Kids is a service program of Kiwanis International and the largest service organization for elementary school students.

K-Kids is a service program of Kiwanis International and the largest service organization for elementary school students. The first K-Kids was chartered in 2000, and today there are more than 36,000 members and nearly 1,200 clubs worldwide serving their communities.

K-Kids is a student-led community service organization under the guidance of volunteer teacher-advisors. K-Kids operate under school regulations and draw its members from the student body (grades 3-5). Involvement in K-Kids provides the opportunity to develop self-esteem, leadership skills, morals and standards and respect for others. K-Kids members learn to work together as a group and yet be strong individually.

In big and small ways, K-Kids are changing the world around them. But the most significant change happens in the kids themselves. K-Kids can help young people answer their call to lead. Every person has leadership potential, and service clubs provide a forum for young leaders to unlock theirs. K-Kids can also provide opportunities for students to discover their heart to serve. When students discover their heart to serve, they decide that serving others is a new, exciting way of life. The service club experience at a young age can help students accept their own ability to make a difference, enhance their knowledge of their own passions and convictions, and develop their ability to empathize with those in need in their communities.

Making a difference within the school and community is what K-Kids is all about! Club members identify needs within the school and community and develop a plan of action to meet those needs. Their projects have included collecting items for the local SPCA, coats and canned goods for those in need, organizing a teacher appreciation event, and making Thank You cards for our military veterans serving overseas. K-Kids members have the opportunity to work together with Kiwanis-family volunteers to make the community and the world a better place.

The Kiwanis Breakfast Club of Seminole sponsors and participates in the K-Kids clubs at Oakhurst Elementary School (61 members) and Seminole Elementary School (36 members).
